The Spectrum Church is now Creed Church

No. We are not closing, splitting or merging. We are the very same church family — the same people, the same leaders, the same place. Only our name and our look have changed.

Creed Church is a Christ-centered, multiethnic church in San Jose, rooted in the gospel and formed together for God’s mission. Our life together moves in a simple rhythm: gathered by God, formed by the gospel, and sent into the city and the nations.

We are now Creed Church. You may also see us referred to simply as Creed.

We revealed our new name on Sunday, September 6, 2026 — our 12th anniversary as a church family. From that day forward, we are Creed Church.

The name CREED carries our identity in a single word — it stands for Covenant Reformed. It names us as a covenantal, confessional, Christ-centered community rooted in the historic Christian faith, and it points above all to our gracious, covenant-keeping God — the God who moves toward us first in redeeming grace. This new identity is not about becoming a different church; it makes explicit what has been true of us from the beginning.

Our mark is made of four interconnected forms that gather around a cross — a symbol of faith formed in community. Each form carries meaning:

• Covenant of Grace
• Cross of Christ
• Confession of Faith
• Community of people from all nations

When we planted Spectrum Church, the name expressed our desire to become a church where people from many ethnicities, cultures, and backgrounds could worship Christ together. By God’s grace, that vision continues to become a beautiful reality. However, the word “spectrum” has increasingly become associated with other cultural and clinical meanings, creating confusion about our identity and, we found ourselves spending more time explaining our name than proclaiming our message. We therefore believe this is the right time to adopt a name that more clearly communicates who we are and what we believe.

Carefully, prayerfully and unanimously. The process included input from our congregation, careful work by our deacons and elders, a formal and unanimous decision by the elder board, and counsel from trusted leaders who have walked other churches through the same step. It was not a quick or one-person decision.

No. Our mission, our congregation, our elders, our doctrinal standards and our teaching all remain unchanged. If anything, our new name expresses them more clearly than before. Our mission remains simple: to reach the unreached, teach for transformation, love one another, and go and send — for the glory of God and the good of the city.

It means we hold to the historic, biblical Christian faith as recovered in the Reformation — a deep confidence that we are saved by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. In plain terms: God is the one who moves toward us first, and everything we do flows from His grace. This is not a new direction for us; our new name simply states it plainly. You are warmly welcome here whatever your background and wherever you are on your journey of faith.

Yes. Pastor JP and the same leadership team you know are still here, leading the same church family.

Yes. We gather in the same place, at the same time. We look forward to worshiping with you every Sunday at 10:00 AM; at 1914 Trade Zone Blvd, San Jose, CA – 95131

Yes. All of our ministries continue just as before, under the Creed name — Sunday worship, Creed Kids, Life Groups (including Exchange Families, Young Professionals, Men’s and Women’s), discipleship and missions. Same care, same community; new name.

Nothing at all. Your membership carries over automatically. There are no forms to fill out and nothing you need to re-register.

No. We are the same legal organization we have always been. We simply filed to change our registered name from “The Spectrum Church” to “Creed Church.” Our tax-exempt status and our federal tax ID (EIN) are unchanged.

Yes. Your giving continues without interruption. Recurring and automatic gifts do not need to be re-set up, and every gift still goes to the same church it always has.

Yes — your gifts remain fully tax-deductible. Because we are the same organization with the same tax ID, your giving history and year-end statements are unaffected. You may simply notice the name “Creed Church” on future receipts.

Yes. Membership, giving history and all official records carry over intact. Only the name on them changes going forward.

Our new home online is thecreedchurch.org. For a while, links to our old site (thespectrumchurch.org) will redirect you here, so any bookmarks you have will still find us.

Our email addresses are moving to the thecreedchurch.org domain. Messages sent to our old addresses will still reach us during the transition, so nothing will be lost.

Our social media and streaming accounts are being updated to the Creed name and look — you don’t need to re-follow anything. Our full sermon library and past messages are moving with us, so nothing you love is going away.
